VMC-EXTENDED CLASSROOM COURSE-2

August 21st, 2007 by Naman Bagga | 1 Comment | Filed in IIT JEE, VMC:Vidyamandir Classes

In my post called VMC-EXTENDED CLASSROOM COURSE I had mentioned about writing a sequel. Here it is-

Today I'll describe two VMC teachers who have taught me for a short period of time but have changed my life and attitude remarkably

Rohit Goyal or Rohit Bhaiya as we call him at VMC is a brilliant maths teacher. He is a Computer Science student, studying in his 3rd year at IIT Delhi. He teaches Calculus at VMC and I attended his last class on Sunday. He is a person who is worth mentioning. He is good, both at teaching and at motivating us.He once told us in class that he is not one of the greatest students of IIT, but let me tell you he is one of the greatest maths teachers at VMC.He has a great sense of humor and makes classes interesting by describing his experiences at IIT.This serves as a source of extra motivation to study.I really hope my juniors are taught by him.

Ashish Bhaiya is a student of IIT Guwahati who came to New Delhi to teach us Solutions,an important topic of physical chemistry. He was brilliant at teaching it.I attended his class 2 months ago and still remember each and every word he said.At VMC,the teacher who is the best at teaching a particular topic teaches it to every single batch of ECC and sometimes even Regular batches.

I'm busy studying nowadays,so I'll keep this post short and write about a few teachers, the next time I write a post on VMC-ECC.

MOVIE REVIEW:CHAK DE INDIA

August 11th, 2007 by Naman Bagga | 4 Comments | Filed in Movies, Reviews

I've been watching a lot of movies lately. Here's my review of the latest YRF movie Chak De India.

My Rating-4.1/5

Have a look at the trailer before reading this review

What do you expect from this movie after watching this trailer?I know the answer-Not much.I didn't expect the movie to be worth a 4.1 on my blog. But trust me on this, the movie is good.

Another aspect which forced me to give this movie a rating of 4.1/5 is that the last few YRF movies have been awful. This one offers some respite. It has been seen with movies like Lagaan that the moment you introduce sports in movies the movie becomes an international match in which the audience enjoys itself cheering of India.

The storyline of the movie wasn't totally original. It reminded me of Bend it like Beckham. The story is about a retired player who retires at an unusual young age due to bad circumstances. He becomes the coach of the women's team. The girls face objection from their family. There are two forwards who play against each other striving for personal achievements.

The script is a strong one and you can relate to most of the part of it like state wise selection. There is however an exception that when Shah Rukh Khan congratulates the Pakistan team after losing the final the public reaction is extreme and he is called a traitor. This is not what happens in India.India has been shown in a bad light. After all sports is all about friendship.

There are a few technical errors in the movie.I'll share the one I noticed. In the world cup,Indian team defeats almost every team 1-0.Before the final, the two forwards have about 8 goals each. This is practically impossible and I would have rated this movie 4.2 if this error would not have been there in it.

Overall, you should go and watch the movie if you wish to and I promise you won't come home unsatisfied.Everybody has done a decent job and I expect this movie to be a big success.

I’M A CODE WARRIOR

August 9th, 2007 by Naman Bagga | 1 Comment | Filed in C++, DPS Vasant Kunj, General

In my post titled 3rd AT TECH EDGE I had forgotten to mention a point which GQ had added in his comment.I am now officially a Code Warrior.I wasn't expecting this at all.The reason being that I didn't go to BVN with a goal to win or to become a Code Warrior.Ankur had asked me before summer holidays if I was ready to go for a few competitions.I didn't say anything and he took it as a yes.

Later,Ankur told me that he would send me to a few competitions to gain experience and to get me used to the type of programs I'd have to make in those competitions.I hadn't done really well at the C.W.Intra.The day I had to go to BVN,I heard Bani Das,the teacher who is in charge of the Code Warriors asking Ankur why he wasn't sending the two children selected by the Intra.I had a brief thought that this could be my last chance but I knew that with Ankur as the President,my first chance could never be my last chance.

I feels great to be a code warrior. But that also means that I have an additional responsibility.I wanted to make this post short as I'm spending time on C++ graphics which is a must for all competitions.
