My ratings say all I have to say about the movie.Govinda and Salman Khan have done a good job and produced a great movie.The movie resembles The Hitch a lot.Govinda even does a stupid dance which reminded me of the hitch.The heroines- Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta have done a good job in the movie.

The movie is simply funny all the way and there isn't a single dull moment.The extra long climax is very funny indeed.I have watched several comedies.But this one is one of its kind.The entire cinema hall was laughing out loud.Another funny feature of the movie is the use of rhyming phrases which make sure that everyone laughs.

There is something for everyone in this movie.People of all age groups will enjoy this movie equally.Overall,the movie was an amazing one.Have a look at the trailer-

3rd AT TECH EDGE

Birla Vidya Niketan,Saket held its annual computer symposium on 25th July.I went there for senior programming.This was my first competition in 6 years.Considering that, I did pretty well with a third position.My school's web designers got the first prize in web designing.It was quite a hectic day.

The reporting time for the event was 8:30am.But due to some confusion about the bus we had to travel in,we left the school at 8:20.We reached BVN at 9:00am in the school ambulance.There was some confusion about the number of students so we ended up in the school Ambulance.

When we reached at 9:00am,I saw an entry made 2 minutes before our arrival, in the entry log.It said that the judge had arrived.I had a feeling that we weren't much late.We had to wait till 9:45am for the event to start as one of the judges hadn't arrived.

The programming competition was from 10am-12pm.There were 5 questions carrying 60,100,200,200 and 300 marks.The last two questions were based on graphics,so I immediately ruled them out.The marking was based on attempts and time elapsed.I did my best or perhaps I could have done a little better.But,at the end of 2 hours I was satisfied with what I had done.

We just had enough time to wait for the prize distribution as we had to catch our school bus.The Code Warriors president and my buddy-Ankur Banerjee a.k.a GQ had convinced me to go for this competition and after it I feel that he did something really nice.

PS-Today,my English teacher agreed to forgive me for not doing my homework due to my absence in the class when I told her about my third position.

VMC:TEST SERIES 5

Last Sunday,22nd July VMC held TS-5 for its IIT JEE 2008 batch.The test was very important for students on RCC(Regular Classroom Course) and ECC(Extended Classroom Course) as reshuffling was to be done on the basis of the test.The test was held at the usual two centers.

This was the first test in which there was no negative marking for questions with more than one correct answers.This made the test challenging.The difficulty level of the questions was medium as usual.Like all other TS's this one provided lots of information to students.I always learn a lot from a TS.

The invigilation for this TS was better than that for any other test.Besides Priyanshu Bhaiya and a few other people who are always there,Aditya Bhaiya made his way to the test center.We were provided errata sheets unlike previous tests in which the corrections were announced manually.

Vidyamandir Classes was completely prepared to organize this TS.Everything was perfect.They have promised that the checking will also be perfect.

If you want to know when the results will be out,I predict the results to be out before 30th July as the test is open Online till 26th July.

The IIT JEE 2009 batch had its TS1 on 15th July.You people should expect the results anytime now.After you receive your marks,please see where you've lost marks and revise the test throughly once and for all.I'm sure Bade Bhaiya will instruct you to do so.If you've scored low,don't get disheartened as you have a long way to go.

EUROPEAN GRAND PRIX-NURBURGRING

The European Grand Prix 2007 was an action packed race.The action started on Saturday when Lewis Hamilton faced a high speed crash in Q3 with just over 5 minutes left in the session during his first flying lap.He didn't face any damage due to the crash and started the race at 10th position.Kimi Raikkonen qualified at Pole Position followed by Alonso and Massa.Have a look at Hamilton's crash-

The race had a dramatic start with a few drivers spinning off the wet track.The safety car was sent to the track.As a result of it,the drivers had completed just 7/60 laps in 35 minutes.The race lasted 2 hours and 6 minutes.I wonder why?A formula 1 race is supposed to end in two hours.Anyways the race was a rain affected one.Kimi Raikkonen had a mechanical failure which ended his race.Lewis Hamilton struggled at the tail end of the pack.He had a tough time overtaking cars and controlling himself.For the first time in 10 races Lewis Hamilton could not manage a podium finish.

Felipe Massa was the leader of the race for a long time followed by Fernando Alonso.With 11 laps remaining,rain was predicted and it did rain.On the 65th lap Alonso overtook Felipe Massa to get the race lead.The McLaren was faster than the Ferrari in wet conditions.

At the end of the day we had an undeserving Fernando Alonso on the top step of the podium beside Massa and Mark Webber.13 cars managed to finish the race which was a very unfair race for Massa.

I'm eager to know why the race wasn't ended in 2 hours.Had the race ended in two hours,I would have been writing a completely different post and someone who deserved to win would have won the race.

MOVIE REVIEW:HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX

Rating if you haven't read the book-4.7/5

With Deathly Hallows relesing this Saturday,you might feel like revising the Half Blood Prince and the Order of the Phoenix.Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix(the movie) is the quickest way to revise the book.Although you won't find details which you would remember if you've read the book atleast once,the movie is a must watch.

The special effects are brilliant.Let me explain my ratings.The movie is well made and is a complete entertainer.The reason why a person who hasn't read the book would rate the movie higher is that the story has been twisted quite a bit.But I didn't feel like deducting more than 1 point.The other reason why I've rated it 4.2 is that 42/10 is 4.2.As you know the Answer to life,the universe and everything else is 42 according to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

There's no point explaining the story as I'm sure all of you would have read the book.For those of you who haven't read the book yet, you will enjoy the movie so go and watch it.

Here's a list of all the points of deviation from the book-

• First of all, in the movie when Harry picks up the prophecy, he listens to standing in the prophecy room.This is probably a move to shorten the movie.You have to do things like this if you want to make the shortest movie out of the longest book.

• There is no mention of the Quibbler,the magazine owned by Luna Lovegood's father.The magazine plays an important role in the book.

• The movie has no mention of quidditch and the ghosts are completely missing.In the movie,Neville discovers about the room of requirement on his own.Harry's broom is not confiscated and he is not banned from playing quidditch in the movie.
  

• Draco Malfoy has a 1 minute role in the movie.He was seen only as a part of the Inquisitorial squad occasionally.

• The ending of the book is tragic and the mirror that Sirius Black gives to harry aggravates the feeling of tragedy.The movie is meant for kids(who prefer happy movies) and it is a short movie so they probably dispensed with this part to account for that.

• The movie does not mention Mareietta,Cho Chang's friend who tells Umbridge about the DA.There is no explaination to the fact that why only Harry and Luna could see the Thestrals.For those of you who don't know,Thestrals can be seen only by people who have seen death.Another person who is missing from the movie is the Centaur Phirenze,the Divination teacher.

Honestly,I've read the book just once,a few days after the release of the book.I'm sure that many of you who have revised it many times would be able to point out more mistakes while enjoying the movie simultaneously.

All you guys can do is add some commments to complete this post.I feel I've mentioned all the major differences.Another one is that Harry does not take cho for a date in the movie. Scenes to enjoy-

• Fred and George's escape from Hogwarts.

• Centaurs taking Umbridge with them.

• Dumbledore's escape from Hogwarts.

• Harry's and Mr Weasley's trip to the ministry for Harry's hearing.

UBUNTU FEATURES-PART 2

Here I am with another edition of Ubuntu features.Today I'll bring you absolute beginner talk with basic features found in all versions of Ubuntu.This how my desktop looks like now-


I admit that there isn't much difference in my desktop from my last edition.Recently I discovered that Geyes can be configured according to your needs.Thus I changed the theme.

I have also added Wanda the fish,the fortune teller to my panel and renamed it to Nemo.You can also configure the animation of the fish.You can also select the command to execute when the fish is clicked.By default,it is set to fortune.This is how the fortune looks like-

Wanda has no use what-so-ever. It only takes up disk space and compilation time, and if loaded it also takes up precious panel space and memory. Anybody found using it should be promptly sent for a psychiatric evaluation.


So,I decided to try it out knowing that I might get bored soon.But,I thought about changing the animation after some time.Overall, though it is nothing new but it is worth a post.

I had written the name of the movie.I felt like leaving it as it was because I knew it would annoy my English teacher but I decided not to do so.

KIMI WINS AT SILVERSTONE

I had my Physics Exam today thus I'm posting about yesterday's race today.The British Grand Prix was a complete entertainer.By the way Roger Federer defeated Nadal in the Wimbledon final again! He has now won 5 times in a row and I feel that this is not his last one .You can expect another one next year.Let's get back to the British Grand Prix.

Hamilton grabbed pole position for his debut home grand prix.But,later in the race it was clear that the Ferrari cars were faster than the McLarens.Thus McLaren had actually compromised on Hamilton's fuel load to get him at pole position to try to sustain the position in the race.Hamilton admitted that the Ferraris had an edge in terms of performence.

The race was a good one for Raikkonen as he finally managed to win the British Grand Prix after finishing on the podium 4 times.Alonso managed a second place ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton who finished third.Felipe Massa managed a fifth position in the second of the two Ferraris.

This season is shaping up well as Lewis Hamilton has managed a podium finish 9/9 times in this season.Ferrari are developing thier aerodynamics and are not far behind in terms of championship points.I think that Ferrari is going to dominate the rest of the season and the Drivers and Constructors championship will be decided in the last few races.

The next race is the European Grand Prix which is held in Germany(Nurburgring circuit).I wonder if I'll be able to post on it as I'll be busy with my TS-5 preparations.

KIMI WINS FRENCH GRAND PRIX,MASSA UNLUCKY

First of all,since I am having my Mid Term examinations till the 9th of this month,I'm making a delayed post.I've already had 2 exams-Mathematics and Computer Science.I'll talk about them sometime later.No,I've changed my mind.I won't give great importence to my school exams but I'll inform you about my results.

First of all,the qualifying-
Felipe Massa did a brilliant job throughout the weekend as it was Ferrari's weekend at Magny Cours.Massa again managed to qualify at pole position with the McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton beside him on the first row and Kimi Raikkonen,his teammate behind him on the second row.Fernando Alonso,the so called defending world champion(which he souldn't have been) managed a 10th place on the grid due to some problems with his gearbox and possibly his engine.But the race had alot in store.

This great qualifying result was achieved as a result of the 24X7 hours a week wind tunnel testing done by Ferrari.They were disappointed about their results in North America.They developed new aerodynamics and made changes to thier chasis.It paid off pretty well.The Ferraris were fast even when they were carrying more fuel.

Finally on Raceday,it was time to flag off what is being considered as the last F1 Grand Prix at Magny Cours.The reason for this is being explained as due to lack of tourist facilities and remote location,Magny Cours isn't earning much.Modern day F1 is all about large high tech circuits.Unfortunately,Magny Cours is going to have to give way to the new circuits.The French Grand Prix is being held at Magny cours since 1991.Ferrari have dominated here.Michael Schumacher has won here 8 times and McLaren have won just once.The Ferrari's had a brilliant start with Kimi Raikkonen snatching second position from Hamilton.

The race was filled with a few incidents.Fernando Alonso had trouble overtaking a few cars and pit strategy was crucial.Hamilton was light on fuel during qualifying and had to follow a 3 stop strategy against the 2 stop stratgy followed by Ferrari.But the McLaren didn't seem to be quick enough for Ferrari.Their testing did pay off well.Christian Albers' Spyker had a bit of an incident as it carried a refueling ring out of the pits due to some confusion in the Spyker pits.I had never seen anything like that happen before.

Massa was leading the race till he made his second pit stop.Kimi Raikkonen,yet to make his pit stop overtook him and managed to come out of the pits ahead of Massa as he(Massa) got caught in traffic.Thus ultimately Kimi Raikkonen finished the race 2 seconds before Massa and lead a Ferrari one-two at France.Fernando Alonso could manage a 7th position and Hamilton finished 3rd.Thus the weekend didn't belong to Mclaren,it belonged to Ferrari.

In short-It was an amazing race!!!
