MOVIE REVIEW-JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM

First of all,some Ratings-

Statutory Warning-Watching this movie can be injurious to your health.

Rating-1.4/5

Boo rating-4/5

First of all I would like you to know that boo rating is a measure of how bad a movie is.This is the term I'm going to use for horrible movies. The reason why I watch such movies is that I go to watch movies very often with my family. Thus, sometimes the movies don't end up to be nice.I would have loved to tell you the story. But the problem is that there wasn't any story.Anyways,I'll tell you what happens in the movie.

The movie revolves around mainly three people-Abhishek Bachchan,Priety Zinta and Amitabh Bachchan who appears, singing the title track and dancing on the Railway Station with some Brits. It seemed like he was upset that Hrithik Roshan was chosen for the Sony Ericsson advertisement-'The thump is here'.What I found most irritating was that there were too many songs and the songs were too long.I found myself banging my head, waiting for a couple of songs to end.I feel that this movie was really close to becoming an opera. The explaination for my ratings is- 0.4 for music and 1 for Amitabh Bachchan who did a nice job.Since he did not deliver any dialogue,I would regard his role as an item song split over the entire movie.

It is like an extended O Henry short story.Priety Zinta and Abhishek Bachchan lie to each other about being engaged to somebody and eventually fall in love in 2 hours as a result of the fake stories.Isin't it pathetic. The movie is punctuated with Lara Dutta and Bobby Deol.Overall, the movie is a collection of irritatingly long songs with a few dialogues in between.

So,I would like to give you a friendly advice-Please Please Please DON'T watch the movie. You'll feel pathetic after watching it.I feel that watching Shivaji (the new Rajnikant film) will be a better option.

US GP-HAMILTON WINS ANOTHER ONE

Lewis Hamlton won the United States Grand Prix finishing 2 seconds ahead of his teammate Fernando Alonso. But Ferrari were not far behind as Massa and Raikkonen finished 3rd and 4th respectively.

There was no change in the first four drivers since qualifying. All of them finished in the position they started the race from. This is a rare thing to happen at Indianapolis as the tracks are wide and there are many fast turns and two 180 degree turns. The straights provide good opportunity for overtaking and the extra long pitlane can have an effect on the course of the race.Turn 13 which is the only banked corner in F1can be and has proved to be a spot for incidents.Ralf Schumacher has experienced 2 crashes coming out of turn 13 and in the 2005 season 14 cars did not start the race(leaving 6) as Michelin failed to provide tyres that could survive the banked corner. The reason why I made this post a little late and a bit short will be mentioned soon.Overall,it was an intresting United States Grand Prix. Now lets move on to the championship standings.Lewis Hamilton is leading the standings and I feel that he can be a world champion this season.I feel that it is too early to mention points and constructors championship standings.

#P.S-Dan Lewis from New York sent me this,a few minutes after I made this post-

VMC: TS-5

This might be nothing new for some but like I always say,for those of you who don't know by now,Vidyamandir Classes will be organizing Test Series 5 on July 22 2007.Do you know what that means?Don't expect many posts these days,I'll have to restrict them to one or two per week.TS5 is supposed to be very crucial,so I have to prepare for it.Here's what the syllabus will be like(I'm not sure about 1-2 topics but this is what the syllabus will look like)-

Physics:Module 1-5,All topics
Chemistry: Module 1-5 and Electrochemistry 2 and The Chemistry of Grignard Reagent from module 6.Solid State from Module 5 might be excluded
Mathematics:Module 1-5 and Indefinite Integration from module 6

I thought that mentioning this will be useful to some as there's always some confusion about the syllabus.Frankly speaking, the syllabus doesn't matter at all.Your aim should be to prepare of JEE and not for TS5.The venues for the test will be SD Public School,Punjabi Bagh and Father Agnel School. If you have any inquiries about the location or anything else you can leave a comment.

For all my juniors in VMC I would like to advice them to listen to thier teachers and be regular.TS1 is supposed to be the easiest test of VMC.Things are going to get more complicated later,so try to master module 1 before TS1.I'm not really sure about TS1 dates but you can expect it in a month.

MY NEW MOUSE

Till yesterday, I used a ball mouse for my PC. I finally bought my first optical mouse as my mouse started working mysteriously and I thought that it was time for it to reach the graveyard. The problem was that it clicked twice when I clicked once. To some, this might not sound a big problem but trust me on this; it is really difficult to work with a mysteriously behaving mouse. After using it for 6 years, I finally disconnected the Logitech ball mouse and connected my new mouse-the SAMSUNG ANYZEN S20P optical wheel mouse. You can have a look at it-

After disconnecting the Logitech mouse, I was eager to rip it apart and see what’s hidden inside. I was a bit nervous and as this could have been the last time I would have seen my mouse in one single piece. But I managed to assemble it again. It was simpler than I thought it would be. I don’t have the expertise to label each part and properly but I did what I could. Just have a look at it-

I separated each and every part and used my Canon Power Shot A430 to take these pictures. Here’s every part of my mouse. One thing I learned from this is that the structure of a mouse isn’t as complicated as I thought it would be. This was a ball mouse, I didn’t try to open my optical mouse and I don’t plan to for a few months. If I do manage to see what’s inside it, I’ll let you guys know about it.

SUNDAY FOR SPORTS

Sunday, 10 June 2007 was a big day for the world of sports. I’ll discuss everything in chronological order-

Nadal wins French open:Rafeal Nadal won his 3rd consecutive title at Roland Garros by defeating Roger Federer for the third year in a row. In my opinion-Nobody can stop Nadal on clay. Wimbledon is the next grand slam for which I predict a Roger Federer victory.

Asia XI wins the Afro Asian Cup: From the world of tennis we now move to Cricket. The Asia XI won the Afro Asian cup 3-0. They even won the 20-20 international match played before the 3 one day internationals. This was expected as the Asian cricket teams have good talent and better facilities than the African ones.

Hamilton wins Maiden Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton claimed his maiden Grand Prix victory at Montreal, Canada by winning the Canadian Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso could just manage a 7th position after getting a 10 second STOP GO penalty for pit lane violations. Felipe Massa and Giancarlo Fisichella were Black Flagged (Disqualified) for ignoring the red light at the pit lane exit. Kimi Raikkonen finished 5th behind Nick Heidfeld, Alex Wurz and Heikki Kovalainen who qualified 3rd 20th and 19th respectively. The race was a disaster as just 12 drivers managed to finish the race. Robert Kubica broke his leg as he had a dangerous crash into the hairpin. The crash was so severe that his legs were visible as the car had sustained a lot of damage. Have a look at the crash-

VMC TEST ROOM VERSION 1.0.0

Test Room is a software that is used by VMC students to take tests at home. It is a good innovation made by Vidyamandir Classes. It can be used even without an internet connection at home. It makes taking tests much easier and hassle-free. The test is supposed to be attempted in a single sitting and can’t be paused. It also has an auto-save feature to combat power failures. This is what the main menu looks like.

The sync button is a good way to update your test list and submit completed tests. In case you don’t have internet access at home, you may download the test files from VM Portal and import the tests into Test Room (transfer the files to your computer via any storage media). After completing the tests you can export the answer files and store them in a storage media, preferably a floppy or pen drive as the files are just about 2KB in size. You can then upload your answer files on VM Portal before the test closes. It’s much simpler if you have internet access. I’m going to show you what the tests list looks like. This is my list as on May 27. It has become even more crowded after the 5 tests last week. In such situation there’s an option to archive tests. Archived tests can be viewed but they don’t appear on the main Test List.

Test Room is a really good software except for the fact that it has some flaws. Some people find it difficult to work with and face problems logging in. In such cases I’m ready to help you to some extent. You can contact me via e-mail or leave a comment here regarding the problem faced by you. I’m sure this will help both VMC and the students using Test Room.

MONACO GRAND PRIX

I had a class on Saturday at 3:00pm (mind you I live in India, thus F1 qualifying European Races is telecasted at 5:27pm). Thus I missed the qualifying of the 80th Monaco Grand Prix. I was worth missing due to two reasons. Firstly, I had a Physics class on Electrostatics that was taken by Aditya Bhaiya (one of my favourite teachers at VMC). You can know more about him by reading the previous post or by visiting his orkut profile and you can also know about his popularity by visiting the community on orkut-Aditya Bhaiya Fan Club. I'm a member too. The second reason was that McLaren drivers Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton qualified 1st and 2nd respectively, spoiling the action at the street circuit. Thus I decided to cancel my idea of posting on the qualifying. I would like to tell you that VMC is holding revision tests online. This week we had 5 tests of an hour each. Thus I won’t be able to post as frequently as I have done before. I've also decided to post about my classes at VMC for my juniors to have an idea about the speed of the courses at VMC. I would also like to advice my juniors about what they should expect before attending a class at VMC. Look out for my next post for this.

The race was as disappointing as the qualifying. I don’t feel like writing about it as Alonso led a McLaren 1-2 with Hamilton following him. Hamilton expressed that the team advised him to calm down rather than stepping on the gas and pushing Alonso to the limit. But FIA cleared McLaren of all charges related to team orders. It has always been observed that McLaren perform unusually well at Monaco. Thus, you can expect a Ferrari bounce-back in the next Grand Prix. Overall, it was a disappointing race to watch if you are a Ferrari fan.
